frequently asked questions

  • I am currently offering both virtual and in-person sessions! My in-person sessions are located at Community Well in San Francisco. I am able to offer HIPAA compliant video services for clients within California.

  • I only provide individual therapy at this time.

  • I generally offer weekly, 50 minute sessions. Occasionally, I will meet more or less frequently with client depending on their needs and/or circumstances.

  • My current rate is $170 per 50 minute session. I also maintain a limited number of sliding scale spots.

  • Payment is made at the time of session. I accept all major credit cards, FSA (flexible spending account), and HSA (health savings account).

  • My current practice is private pay only, meaning clients pay directly out of pocket for my services. Many clients do however receive reimbursement from their insurance companies for mental health services at varying percentages. I can provide you with a statement that includes the required information, such as diagnosis and procedure code, which you may use to obtain direct reimbursement from your insurance company.

I recommend that you reach out to your insurance company directly to ask about their out-of-network policy. Here are some questions that you might ask:

Does my plan provide out-of-network reimbursement for mental health?

What amount or percentage is reimbursed for out-of-network mental health therapists?

Is there a cap to the "allowable amount" per session?

Is there a deductible I need to meet before you will start to reimburse me?

How do I seek reimbursement for out of network services?

Is there a session limit for behavioral health services?

  • You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

  • Ginkgo bilobas are incredible plants! They are one of the oldest living tree species in the world; fossils of Ginkgo leaves have been discovered that date back more than 200 million years. Ginkgo bilobas are also revered as symbols of resilience, as they have survived and regenerated after major disasters, including the atomic bomb blast in Hiroshima in 1945. Furthermore, ginkgo bilobas are native to China which is also where my ancestors called home.

  • In my free time, I like to go beachcombing with my chihuahua, Rosie; driving around town on the prowl for the best veggie taco; journaling about therapeutic kdramas; hyperfixating on the latest craft obsession; and healing my inner child by actually using stickers instead of hoarding them!
